Live updates for India vs. Bangladesh, Day 1 of the Second Test: Following lunch, R Ashwin gave India the first wicket, dismissing Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto. Akash Deep made progress with the ball in the opening session, dismissing both of Bangladesh's openers. With a magnificent catch at gully by Yashasvi Jaiswal, he dismissed Zakir Hasan for a 24-ball duck to start things off. With a masterful DRS, the Bengal pacer also gave Shadman Islam (24), his marching orders. But soon after, India squandered two more reviews with fruitless challenges.
Earlier, in the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur, skipper Rohit Sharma chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Bangladesh made two changes, but Rohit named the same squad.

After Akash Deep's twin strikes, Bangladesh remains stable.

Bangladesh batted under overcast skies on the first day of the second Test against India in Kanpur and had a decent morning session. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (28*) and Mominul Haq (17*) held off the Indian attack in difficult conditions to score an unbroken 45 runs. A wet outfield from overnight rain led to a slow start and these factors led to Indian captain Rohit Sharma bowling at the coin toss. However, it was clear from the start that the surface in Kanpur was in stark contrast to that in Chepauk

There was grass but the black surface meant there was little bounce and the surface was slow. India's new ball duo Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj really swung the ball and their movements were mostly spectacular. Bangladesh openers Shadman Islam and Zakir Hasan had a few close calls but looked largely confident with the new ball until Akash Deep stepped up. India's latest fast bowling sensation stunned again in the first over when he took Zakir to gully and Yashasvi Jaiswal for a blinder. Soon after, the pacer bowled Shadman LBW, giving India the momentum.

Deep was by far the best bowler of the session, frustrating the Bangladesh batsmen with some promising lines and lengths. But Shanto and Mominul held firm and slowed down the bowling. The surface seemed to pick up speed as conditions brightened and the humidity subsided. There was still plenty of help from the bowlers and India tried their best with the Shanto-Mominul partnership but the duo held firm. They managed to prevent further damage and rain began to fall just before midday.
